Paws in the Park 2020Thank you so much to everyone who helped make our Virtual Paws in the Park 2020 a success!
TWe have been monitoring the State of Kansas’s Ad Astra plan as well as the Shawnee County modifications, and have determined that the size of Paws of in the Park will unfortunately prohibit it from taking place in person this year. We have delayed making this decision, hoping that miraculously the pandemic would pass quicker than it has. We realize now that postponement was unrealistic. As the event has historically drawn more than 300 attendees, with an additional 100 vendors, sponsors, staff, and volunteers, we recognize that the responsible option at this point is to encourage people to stay home. Our community’s lives are just too important. This decision was inevitable.
We are excited to announce that the event will take place right here! On our website, on our Facebook, and in YOUR favorite park where you can social distance and hang out with your pet for the event! Check back here regularly for updates!
Time to be honest with all you paws.
This fundraiser usually raises Helping Hands Humane Society a large amount of donations that help us prepare and sustain through the warmer months of higher animal intakes, because we get so many little babies in (like the little kitten shown here). Not only is it a pet celebration where we get to spend time with our pets and with each other, but It’s traditionally one of our three major fundraisers of the year, and these dollars are vital to us.
While we know this is a hard time for everyone and we know that we ask a lot of friends or neighbors, whether it be donations of collars or treats or time and so much more, the reality is that we wouldn’t ask if we didn’t need you all. You are the heart of what we do, the gears that keep the care that we provide and the work that we do rotating. As an open-admission shelter, we need your dollars to help us save more lives of cases that can be fairly difficult.
The decision to shift this event to an online event was one made with your safety, our safety, and the safety of our community in mind, but we did so knowing that we will be facing a financial loss from the donations that we usually receive at this event.
If you have been considering giving, or have been feeling philanthropic to causes that you care about, now is the time to show your support. Please consider donating for this fundraiser. We know it’s not the same as an in-person event and we know not being able attend is disappointing for some, but the animals still need help whether we are getting together in-person or online. They still need you.
Any amount matters, and we are beyond grateful for every single dollar, every dime, which comes through. The donate button below can be selected to ANY amount, please consider.
Thank you so much for all your support and understanding.
YOU CAN DONATE ANY AMOUNT TO THIS EVENT WITH THIS BUTTON:
Your donations help lost, abandoned, and injured animals like those shown below. Hanson was a cat who came in with a severely wounded leg which required amputation. We are inundated with neonatal kittens like the baby shown in the middle each spring; it requires dedicated foster families, various supplies, and medical support to save these tiny lives. Finally, Pumpking the puppy came in extremely emaciated, on the brink of starvation. Our vet, Dr. Grace, fostered her until she recovered and gained enough weight to be spayed. Hanson and Pumpkin have been adopted into loving homes, but more animlas in need cross our threshold each day.

🤩🤩Peep these amazing shirts designed by one of our sponsors, Reliant Apparel, forVirtual Paws in the Park: Sit, Stay at Home!🤩🤩
These are made out of Bella Canvas material, which is as soft as a kitten’s fur and as smooth as a puppy’s belly😻
These commemorative tees, with a modified logo (even the pets are wearing masks!), will be sold for $20 and ALL proceeds benefit the animals here at HHHS! While we’re bummed that we couldn’t hang out in person at Paws in the Park in 2020, hopefully we all remember this year as the year that we kept one another safe by practicing our sits and stays at home.
We will be doing curbside sales of these on Friday, June 12th at HHHS‘s front parking lot from 10am-4pm so mark your calendars!
We hope you will want to wear this cool tee during your one mile mutt strut on Sunday, June 14th or anywhere you want to show your HHHS pride🏃♀️🚶♂️🚶♀️🏃♂️👟👟
